Open radiator flaps for the Spitfire Mk.IX and TR.9 1:48 (QuickBoost) Replacement radiator flaps in the open position for Airfix Spitfire kits in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
Replacement parts for building the British fighter Supermarine Spitfire in the Mk.IX and the two-seat TR.9 versions in 1:48 scale. The set replaces the radiator exit flaps in the open position, as the aircraft had them on the ground and while taxiing. The box states Spitfires from Airfix as the target kits. The QuickBoost brand belongs to the Czech maker Aires Hobby Models.
The Spitfire Mk.IX came about as a quick answer to the German Fw 190: a Rolls-Royce Merlin engine with a two-stage supercharger was fitted into the airframe of the older version, and it gave the aircraft performance at high altitude. The two-stage engine needed larger radiators under both wings, so the Mk.IX is recognized by its symmetrical radiator baths. The TR.9 was the two-seat training conversion, with the second cockpit set back.
Wash the resin parts in warm soapy water before gluing, so that the mold release agent disappears from the surface, otherwise the paint will not hold. Cut the casting block off with a saw or a cutting disc, never with sprue nippers, which will break resin up. Sand the mating surface flat and glue the part with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue) or with epoxy, because cement for plastic will not hold here. When sanding resin, use a respirator or sand wet, as the dust is not good to breathe.
This is an add-on for a model, not a kit. The base kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
