3D interior decal for the TBD-1 Devastator with printed parts 1:48 is a printed 3D interior decal finished in color with printed resin parts for a Devastator kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
A 3D interior decal for building the American carrier-based torpedo bomber Douglas TBD-1 Devastator in 1:48 scale from the Russian brand Quinta Studio, in the version supplemented by printed resin parts. It is a printed relief part finished in color on decal paper, which takes the place of painting the instrument panel and the walls of the roomy cockpit. The box gives the Devastator from Hobby Boss as the target kit.
The Douglas TBD-1 Devastator was the first carrier-based torpedo bomber of the US Navy with all-metal construction and a folding wing. When it entered service it was among the most modern machines of its class, but by 1942 engineering had moved on and the aircraft was already slow and vulnerable. At Midway whole squadrons of Devastators took off and almost no machine came back; their attack did, however, draw the Japanese defense down low and opened the way for the dive bombers.
3D decals are not applied like an ordinary decal. Paint the surface in the cockpit first and give it a gloss coat, because a decal will not settle on a matte surface. Dip the part briefly in warm water, lift it off the paper and set it in place; the makers recommend helping it with white PVA glue. Then press the shape down carefully with a cotton swab so that the relief follows the surface beneath, and let it dry thoroughly. Do not use solvent-based decal softeners, as they can damage the surface.
This is an accessory to a model, not a kit. The base kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
