Academy 1:600 USS Enterprise CVN-65 is a plastic kit of the first nuclear-powered aircraft carrier.
Responsibility details are not available.
A plastic kit of an American aircraft carrier in 1:600 scale, that is in the scale in which even a giant ship fits a display case. The manufacturer states neither the number of parts, the number of aircraft on the deck nor the extent of the decals. The small scale means a quicker build, but every inaccuracy in gluing the superstructure will show on it.
The USS Enterprise, designated CVN-65, was the first nuclear-powered aircraft carrier. She entered service in 1961 and thanks to eight reactors had practically unlimited range; she stood out for her angular superstructure with flat radar antennas, which was not repeated on later ships. She stayed in service for more than half a century and went through Vietnam, the Cold War and present-day conflicts before she was retired in 2012. She is among the best-known ships in naval history.
Glue and fill the hull first and check that it is straight; on a long ship a bend shows at first glance. Paint the flight deck separately and deal with the markings on it with decals, not with brushwork. For 1:600 scale the rule is that less is more: dose the wash into the recesses very sparingly and suggest wear only on the sides at the waterline. Glue the aircraft onto the deck last and leave free areas between them, so that the deck reads as alive.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
