About product

HMS Warspite 1942 in 1:700 scale (Trumpeter)

This injection-molded plastic kit captures the British battleship HMS Warspite as she appeared in 1942. The model is supplied in a waterline version or as a full-hull version on a stand. Photo-etched parts are also included, which refine the railings and other fine details of the superstructures.

The real subject

HMS Warspite was one of the Queen Elizabeth class battleships of the Royal Navy. Her main armament consisted of eight 15-inch guns in four twin turrets, supported by a secondary battery of medium caliber. Warspite was one of the most famous ships of her era and saw action in both world wars; her 1942 appearance matches her service in the Second World War.

Building and painting tips

It is a good idea to paint the hull and the deck before the superstructures and the guns are fitted. Glue the fine photo-etched parts, above all the railings, with super glue; use thin cement for plastic on the plastic. Apply the camouflage scheme with an airbrush and handle the transitions between shades with soft masking. A dark wash will bring out the panel and plank lines of the deck.

Who the model is for

  • lovers of Second World War battleships
  • collectors of the Royal Navy in 1:700 scale
  • more advanced modelers who will appreciate photo-etched parts
  • builders of naval display cases and dioramas

The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
