USS Missouri BB-63 as she appeared in 1945 is a plastic kit of the American battleship in 1:700 from Vee Hobby, supplied in the Platinum level, the highest of three equipment levels.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the battleship Missouri in her 1945 configuration. Platinum is not merely different packaging but the highest of the three equipment levels the manufacturer runs in this line: on top of the Deluxe edition it adds masks and further photo-etched parts. The lower levels are Deluxe and Standard, and the manufacturer also releases the same ship in the basic version. The scope of the accessories differs from vessel to vessel, so check the contents on the box.
Missouri was the last American battleship to be completed. She was launched on January 29, 1944, entered service on June 11, 1944 and carried guns of 406 mm caliber. She went down in history on September 2, 1945, when the Japanese surrender was signed on her deck in Tokyo Bay. Admiral Chester Nimitz signed the document for the United States, General Douglas MacArthur presided over the ceremony, and the whole ceremony lasted about twenty-three minutes. The place of the signing is marked on the deck with a metal plaque. The year given refers to exactly this appearance of the ship.
The masks supplied make work on the edges of the camouflage and on the deck substantially easier. Paint the superstructures and decks separately from the hull. Fit the photo-etched railings only after painting, and join the metal parts with cyanoacrylate glue. The small anti-aircraft armament is easier to paint while still on the sprue. Before gluing the photo-etch, check whether its plastic counterpart is meant to stay unused.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
