The Aber 1:72 barrel of the 128 mm KwK 44 L/65 gun for the E-100 heavy tank is a turned metal part replacing the plastic barrel. It is a detail accessory, not a vehicle kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
A turned metal barrel in 1:72 scale from the Polish brand Aber, intended for a model of the German super-heavy E-100 tank. It replaces the plastic barrel of a kit and brings an exactly round cross-section along its whole length, crisp edges and a genuinely drilled muzzle. It is not a vehicle model but a detail accessory. On a barrel this long the metal version is also an advantage because it does not bow or twist the way a thin plastic molding does.
The Panzerkampfwagen E-100 was the heaviest project of the German Entwicklung development series at the end of the Second World War. Only a partly built chassis was completed by the end of the war, and a complete vehicle with a turret was never built. The planned main armament was a 128 mm gun of the KwK 44 family, for which a lengthened barrel was also considered. The model therefore represents a project machine, a so-called paper panzer, not a vehicle deployed in combat.
Cut the plastic barrel off as close to the turret as possible, level the cut with a file and widen the hole in the mantlet with a hand drill if need be. Degrease the brass part with alcohol and glue it with super glue or epoxy, checking carefully that it is aligned with the turret. Give the metal a base coat before painting, ideally a self-etching primer. A long barrel gains a great deal when, once painted, it is gently brought out with drybrushing on the edges of the muzzle section.
The set is an accessory for a kit; the vehicle model itself is not included in the package. Glue, paints and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
