An injection-molded plastic kit of the Dutch Fokker G.1A twin-engine heavy fighter in 1:72 scale from Mikromir. It is a short-run kit, and as usual with those the parts need more careful cleanup and test fitting — which makes it better suited to more experienced modelers. The exact contents of the set and the number of marking options are given in the manufacturer's part number for this item.
The Fokker G.1 was a Dutch twin-boom heavy fighter, comparable in role and size to the German Messerschmitt Bf 110. It entered service shortly before the Second World War, and during the German attack on the Netherlands in May 1940 only a handful of machines managed to fight, yet they still scored a number of kills. Some of the aircraft were captured by the Germans and used as trainers. The G.1A version had Bristol Mercury engines and heavy gun armament concentrated in the nose.
Cut the parts from the sprues and clean and dry-fit them carefully before gluing — with short-run kits this decides the result. Use a thin plastic cement. Paint and detail the cockpit before you close the fuselage, and mask the clear glazing. Apply primer and paint with an airbrush, put the decals on over a gloss coat and bring out the panel lines with a wash.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
