1:72 Hawker Hurricane airplanes used by the Czechoslovak airmen in the RAF is a DK Decals sheet in 1:72 scale for the machines flown by Czechoslovak airmen in the Royal Air Force.
Responsibility details are not available.
A decal sheet in 1:72 scale from the Czech manufacturer DK Decals. This is not a kit but a set of markings for models of the Hawker Hurricane, the machine flown by Czechoslovak airmen in RAF service. The number and the selection of markings on the sheet are not stated here. The same subject was released by the same manufacturer in 1:48 and 1:32 scale as well, and later in a newer edition under an altered name, so the content of the individual sheets differs.
After the occupation of Czechoslovakia hundreds of airmen left for the West and from 1940 served in the RAF. They flew Hurricanes with No. 310 and No. 312 Squadrons, which were made up of Czechoslovaks, and with British and Polish units too, where individual pilots had found their way even before their own squadrons were formed. The Hurricane was then the most numerous fighter of Fighter Command and carried the greater share of the burden of the Battle of Britain. It flew more slowly than the Spitfire, but it took more hits and its tube structure with partly fabric covering could be repaired even under field conditions.
The decals are released in water and applied over a gloss clear coat, which prevents silvering of the carrier film. A softener settles the markings into the engraved details. In a small scale it pays to spray the clear coat in two thin passes, so that the fine panel lines are not flooded.
This is a decal set. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
