A base for a model with a faithful interlocking paver pattern in 1:72 scale, in a rectangular format. It is the quickest way to put a finished model into a setting: you do not have to build a diorama, and yet the aircraft or vehicle no longer stands on a bare shelf but on a surface that makes sense.

Use

It is used as the surface of a display stand, as a courtyard, as a paved area by a hangar, a workshop or a building, and as the groundwork for a small scene with figures. The rectangular format suits one model or a pair of vehicles and is easy to frame or to glue onto a board.

Work tips

Glue the base onto a flat, firm board and weight it down so that it does not ripple. The impression is reinforced markedly if you add to the surface: sprinkle fine dust into the joints, add grass growing between the blocks, an oil stain and tire tracks. Cover the edges with a frame or recess them so that the thickness of the backing does not show.
