An injection-molded plastic kit of the German single-engine transport and training aircraft Junkers W 34Hi in 1:72 scale from the Czech brand Special Hobby. The manufacturer gives three sprues of plastic parts, one sprue of clear parts, a new set of 3D-printed parts and a decal sheet with several marking options. The model is meant to be glued and painted.
The Junkers W 34 grew in the 1920s out of the record-setting W 33 type and was built in both transport and military form. The W 34 hi subtype received a nine-cylinder air-cooled BMW 132 radial engine of around 650 horsepower and better radio and navigation equipment. Most of the machines in the Luftwaffe served in flying schools for the training of pilots, navigators and radio operators. Over two thousand aircraft were built in the hi and hau versions, and the Czechoslovak Air Force was among the users of the type.
This is a short-run mold, so test the parts dry first and sand the seating surfaces. Cut the 3D-printed parts off their supports with a sharp scalpel and glue them with cyanoacrylate glue, as cement for plastic does not bond them. The corrugated skin is a recognition mark of Junkers aircraft, so apply the covering shade in thin coats to keep the profile from being flooded. Spray the cockpit before the fuselage is closed, mask the glazing and lay the decals on a gloss clear coat.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
