A 3D interior decal for building the Soviet fighter Lavochkin La-5 in 1:72 scale from the Russian brand Quinta Studio, in the form supplemented with printed resin parts. It is a printed, fully colored relief part on decal paper that replaces painting the instrument panel and the cockpit side walls. The box states the La-5 kit from Zvezda as the target.
The Lavochkin La-5 was one of the most important Soviet fighters of the Second World War. It came about when the designers fitted the powerful Shvetsov radial engine into the airframe of the not very successful LaGG-3, which gave the aircraft both speed and climb and made it an equal match for the German fighters. The structure remained largely wooden, which was an advantage in Soviet conditions, because production did not draw on scarce aluminum. The cockpit was cramped and the instrument panel very spare.
3D decals are not applied like an ordinary decal. Paint the surface in the cockpit first and give it a gloss clear coat, because the decal will not seat on a matte surface. Dip the part briefly in warm water, release it from the paper and seat it in place; the makers recommend helping it along with white PVA glue. Then press the shape down carefully with a cotton swab so that the relief follows the base, and let it dry thoroughly. Do not use solvent-based decal softeners, as they can attack the surface.
This is an add-on for a model, not a kit. The base kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
