A set of masks for painting a model of the Soviet fighter aircraft La-5 in its late form, 1:72 scale. An accessory for a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
A masking set shortens the most tedious thing about painting a model: covering the glazing and the boundaries between colors. The parts are pre-cut to shape, so cutting strips from a roll and guessing where the edge should run are done away with. The frame of the cockpit then comes out sharp and of the same thickness along its whole length, which in a small scale shows at first glance.
The set is meant for a model of the aircraft Lavochkin La-5 in 1:72 scale; the name states the late form of the type. The La-5 is a Soviet single-seat fighter aircraft of the Second World War with a radial engine. It came about by rebuilding an earlier type that lacked power, and it became one of the main Soviet fighters of the second half of the war. Which kit the set is cut for is given in the maker's description and instructions.
The masks are stuck onto a clean and degreased surface, and that before spraying, never after it. Press each part down with a toothpick or a blunt tip along the whole edge, so that no paint gets under the edge. Lay the finish on in thin coats; a heavy coat will form a ridge at the edge of the mask that stays visible after it is taken off. Take the mask off while the paint is freshly dry, and by pulling to the side, not perpendicularly upward.
It suits anyone who does not dare tackle the small glazing in 1:72 scale with tape and a blade by hand. The package holds masks; a kit, paints and glue are not included in it, unless stated otherwise.
