An injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet MiG-19S supersonic fighter in 1:72 scale from the Czech manufacturer Smer. The set contains parts in gray plastic, clear canopy glazing and a decal sheet. It is a classic kit in a popular small scale, suited to collections of the Cold War.
The MiG-19 was the first Soviet production fighter capable of sustained supersonic flight in level attitude. It was powered by a pair of jet engines, and the armament consisted of built-in 30mm cannon and unguided rockets. The MiG-19S version was a day frontline fighter with an all-moving horizontal tail, which served with the air forces of a number of Warsaw Pact countries and became the basis for the later development of the whole family.
We recommend assembling the set with liquid cement for plastic and filling and sanding the joints carefully, especially on the fuselage and the leading edges. The metal look of polished duralumin is achieved with metallic paints over a smooth base; apply a gloss varnish before the decals. The cockpit will gain from the addition of belts and a simple instrument panel.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
