An injection-molded plastic kit of the German anti-aircraft tank Flakpanzer IV, known as the Möbelwagen, with an anti-aircraft gun of 3.7 cm caliber. The scale is 1:72 and the manufacturer is the German company Revell. The Model Set edition adds basic paints, a brush and glue to the sprues with the parts, the decals and the instructions; the kind of paints is stated on the box.
The vehicle arose out of necessity: Allied low-level aircraft were taking their toll on German columns and the infantry needed mobile protection from its own ranks. An anti-aircraft gun was therefore set on the chassis of the Panzer IV tank, shielded by four tall armor walls that folded down to the sides before firing. Those walls are exactly what earned the machine its nickname referring to a furniture van. The vehicles served from 1944 until the end of the war.
Assemble and paint the running gear and the inside of the fighting compartment first — once the walls are fitted you will not reach it. The folding walls can be glued in the open position, so that the gun stays visible, or closed, which gives that characteristic box. Decide before you glue them on. Simplify the late camouflage to a base shade with brown-green stripes drawn dry. Dust and mud on the running gear complete the look of real service; choose the thinner according to the kind of paints from the box.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. With the Model Set edition the basic paints, a brush and glue are, according to the manufacturer, part of the package; other accessories are not.
