Hobby Boss 1:72 Morser Karl-Gerat 040 is a plastic kit of the German self-propelled giant siege mortar of the Second World War.
Responsibility details are not available.
This injection-molded plastic kit captures the German self-propelled siege mortar Karl in the Gerat 040 version with a 60 cm barrel. The box holds plastic sprues, flexible tracks and a finely rendered mounting and barrel. The model is built in the travel position.
The Karl-Gerat was one of the largest self-propelled mortars ever used. The army commissioned its development from Rheinmetall in 1937 with the original aim of breaking through the French Maginot Line. The Gerat 040 version had a 60 cm barrel and fired exceptionally heavy shells over a short distance. Only a few were built; they carried individual names and were used at Sevastopol and Warsaw, among other places.
First assemble the running gear and the mounting, and only then fit the barrel. Use liquid modeling cement on the plastic. The large machine comes into its own with a pronounced patina, lightened surfaces and heavy dust and mud pigments on the running gear.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
