A plastic kit in 1:72 scale from the Czech manufacturer Kovozavody Prostejov, which has been making aircraft models since 1968. The subject is the glider-towing version of the famous Czechoslovak Trener series of training aircraft. The manufacturer has not yet released the detailed contents of the package for this new item.
The Z-226B Bohatyr was the towing version of the Z-226 from the family of Zlin Treners. To be able to tow a glider it went through a number of changes: the designers strengthened the rear fuselage, added towing equipment and lightened the aircraft as much as possible. They replaced the electrical controls with mechanical ones, left the controls only in the rear seat and designed a new towing propeller. Power came from an air-cooled Walter Minor 6-III inline six-cylinder engine.
Injection-molded plastic is bonded with liquid cement for polystyrene, which is drawn into the seam by capillary action. Sand off the flash before gluing and try the parts dry. Apply a primer before painting; on small aircraft an airbrush pays off because of the smooth surface it leaves. Decals adhere best over a gloss clear coat, and once dry they should be sealed with a matte one. Glue the clear parts with canopy glue so that they do not fog.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
