An injection-molded plastic kit of the German tank destroyer Jagdpanzer IV in the late version with the long gun, in 1:76 scale. The manufacturer is the German company Revell and it is a Model Set edition: besides the sprues with the parts, the decals and the instructions the package also holds a basic set of paints, a brush and glue. The kind of paints supplied is stated on the box. The 1:76 scale is close to the widespread 1:72, but it is not the same as it — for a shared scene that is worth checking.
The Jagdpanzer IV was built on the chassis of the Panzer IV tank as a low, well-armored tank destroyer with no rotating turret. The late version received a long gun of seventy calibers, that is, the same weapon the Panther carried — against enemy tanks that moved the machine into an entirely different league. It paid for it with nose heaviness, which troubled the steering and the front wheels. The vehicles served in the last phase of the war on the Western as well as the Eastern Front.
Assemble and paint the running gear with the wheels first, then close it with the side plates. The long barrel wants a straight fit and the seam along the joint sanded down with care, otherwise it shows on the finished model. Late German camouflage can be simplified to a base shade with brown and green stripes put on with a drier brush. Smears of mud around the running gear and dust on the upper surfaces do a lot of work for little effort; choose the thinner according to the kind of paints from the box.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. With the Model Set edition the basic paints, a brush and glue are, according to the manufacturer, part of the package; other accessories are not.
