DSPIAE AT-F01 Leviathan is a modeling file made of ceramic. It does not corrode or oxidize and leaves a surface comparable to fine abrasive paper.
Responsibility details are not available.
A file of zirconium dioxide, that is of technical ceramic rather than steel. The difference lies mainly in how the material behaves: ceramic does not rust, does not oxidize and does not react with glues or solvents, so the file leaves no gray marks on light-colored plastic the way the rub-off from an ordinary steel file does. It also keeps its cutting ability considerably longer.
According to the manufacturer the result is comparable to sanding with fine abrasive paper of the order of one thousand to twelve hundred. That is unusual for a file, because an ordinary steel file leaves a surface that then has to be sanded separately. Here you can in many cases go straight to the finishing step, which on small parts saves both work and material.
The file will be appreciated by modelers who clean up sprue nubs and mold seams on small parts and want as few further steps as possible. It comes into play on plastic as well as resin.
It pays to have a ceramic file alongside abrasive papers rather than instead of them. For coarse removal it is slow, but for cleaning up small faces it replaces two steps at once. Do not breathe in the sanding dust from plastic and resin; work with extraction or at least with a respirator.
