What the handle does

The handle screws onto the rear of the body, where it closes off the rear end of the needle with the spring assembly, and it offers the fingers a surface to hold. At every deeper cleaning it is unscrewed and refitted, so wear shows on it sooner than on the other parts: scuffed anodizing on the edges, a dent after a drop, a seized thread. The Aventus body is machined from a single block of aluminum and anodized, and the manufacturer builds it as a three-piece modular body with combinable module colors, so changing the handle recolors the tool at the same time.

What to watch when choosing

• Blue gray is a muted shade, standing midway between the silver and the dark blue variant.
• The color has no effect whatsoever on how the tool runs or sprays.
• The Aventus airbrush came in several generations, so compare the version with your own tool.
