Chameleon Darth Blue from Green Stuff World: an acrylic paint that changes shade with the angle of view. It is applied over a black gloss base.
Responsibility details are not available.
An acrylic paint with fine flake pigments that refract light instead of reflecting it evenly. The surface therefore shifts between shades as it is tilted, here starting from a dark blue. The paint is semi-transparent, so the result stands or falls with the base: without the right foundation the effect will not appear at all.
The manufacturer recommends a black base coat and states that a gloss black strengthens the effect further. Shake the bottle thoroughly, as the pigment settles to the bottom. Apply very thin coats and let each one dry until the base is no longer visible and the paint reaches full depth. According to the manufacturer an airbrush gives the best result; with a brush it is harder to keep an even surface without strokes. Do not use alcohol-based thinners, as they damage the paint and can clog an airbrush.
For painters of figures and science fiction subjects and for anyone who wants a surface on a model that transforms as it is turned. A dark blue foundation is rewarding in that the effect shows even on a small area, so a single component is enough to give a model a bold accent.
Keep the paint out of the reach of children, ventilate when spraying and protect your airways. Close the bottle carefully after use.
