Chameleon MYSTIC GOLD

Chameleon Mystic Gold, 17 ml (Green Stuff World)

An acrylic paint from the Chameleon range of the Spanish manufacturer Green Stuff World, in a golden version. Very fine pigments reflect light in such a way that the perceived shade changes with the viewing angle. The bottle holds 17 ml, the base is water-thinnable, non-flammable and latex-free.

How the effect works

The paint does not behave like an ordinary covering shade. The pigment needs a dark base, on which the transition across the surface only then comes into play. The manufacturer prescribes a black base and points out that the result is strongest on gloss black. On a light base the effect disappears and only a faint cast remains.

Use

• Shake the bottle thoroughly before work; the pigment settles to the bottom.
• Spray the base black, ideally to a gloss surface.
• Apply very thin coats until the base no longer shows through.
• Let each coat dry before you apply the next, otherwise the pigment clumps into patches.
• It is applied by brush and by airbrush; an airbrush gives a more even surface.

Who it is for

For figure painters and modelers looking for a golden effect on armor, ornaments, magical items or body accessories. The gold tone also works well as an accent on a small area, where a full-surface effect would be too much. On a smooth surface it comes across more strongly than on a broken-up relief with deep grooves.
