Cosplay EVA foam 5 mm, high density from Green Stuff World: a material for building armor and props.
Responsibility details are not available.
A sheet of foam material five millimeters thick in a high density, meant for building costumes, armor and props. High density means a finer and firmer structure: the material sands better, holds a crisper edge and, once the surface has been sealed, paint on it does not look as though it were lying on a sponge. The five-millimeter thickness is the basic building dimension from which most plates of armor are made.
The foam is cut with a sharp knife that needs changing often, because a blunt blade tears the material instead of cutting it. A bevel cut at an angle lets parts be glued into a three-dimensional shape without a visible seam. It is shaped with heat: a warmed part can be bent and will hold the shape once it cools. It is glued with contact adhesive or with cyanoacrylate. Before painting, the surface has to be sealed, because untreated foam soaks the paint up and cracks when bent. Flexible coatings are used for sealing, as they will not be damaged by movement.
For makers of costumes and props, for builders of large models and props for exhibitions and for anyone who needs a light, formable material.
There is a risk of the knife slipping when cutting, so work on a mat and guide the blade away from you. Ventilate when heat-forming and sanding, and store the material out of reach of children and away from sources of open flame.
