DSPIAE CT-50, spherical bit 5.0 mm

This is a bit on its own, not a tool: a spherical head of 5.0 mm diameter for the DSPIAE hand tool for chamfering and smoothing edges. Of the diameters offered it is the largest, so it suits the biggest holes and pronounced spherical countersinks, for example at the muzzles of larger barrels or at cooling holes, where a smaller head does not give an even curve in one pass.

Who it is for

For those who already have the chamfering tool from this maker and work in larger scales, because it is there that holes have the size the largest head can cope with. On its own the bit has no use; it needs a holder with the matching chuck. On small parts in small scales, by contrast, this diameter cannot be used, as it would take too much off the edge.

The bit is sharp; keep it out of the reach of children. Work with light pressure and a small number of turns by hand, as very little is needed on plastic; heavy pressure will not smooth the edge but break it away. With the largest diameter that goes double: the cut is wide, so one turn too many means a countersink markedly deeper than you wanted, and on thin plastic also the risk that the edge breaks through.
