Fairey Albacore is a monograph on the British carrier-based torpedo biplane. It came out in the British Warpaint 52 series, which devotes each volume to a single aircraft type and sums up its development, service and appearance in a single booklet in A4 format. The volume was written by W. A. Harrison. The publication is in English. It is not a kit and not an accessory for building a model.
The Albacore was a carrier-based torpedo biplane that was to replace the older Swordfish. Against its predecessor it offered an enclosed heated cabin and a Bristol Taurus radial engine, so the crew flew in far more bearable conditions. In combat service with the Fleet Air Arm, however, it never established itself enough to push its predecessor out, and the Swordfish outlived it in service in the end.
The volume will be appreciated by builders of biplanes and carrier aircraft and by collectors of literature on the war at sea. The combination of photographs, drawings and color schemes serves as a basis for building and painting a model.
