This is not a model of the tank but a detail resin accessory for the engine deck. The set deals with the cooling assembly on the right side of the Panther's engine compartment in the Ausf.G version in 1:72 scale. It is a one-sided set — the name expressly states the right side, so it is not a pair.
The Panther's engine deck is covered by openings with grilles, under which the real machine has fans and radiators. In a plastic kit in 1:72 scale there tends to be a solid surface or a shallow depression under the grille, so from above the model reads as a closed plate. And yet that is the most common view of a tank on display — a model is looked at from above. The resin casting gives the opening depth and a readable structure, so that the grille stops looking like a sticker.
First hold the casting up to the deck and decide how much plastic has to come out. Cut the opening with a fine drill around the perimeter and finish it with a scalpel; then true the edge by wet sanding on fine paper wrapped around a piece of section. Wet sanding does two things at once here — it does not clog the paper and it keeps flushing the dust away, so you can see where material is still left and do not sand the edge of the opening into a curve. Set the assembly in so that it lies slightly below the level of the deck, not flush with it; otherwise it looks as though it had been laid on from above. It pays to paint it separately, in a dark shade and before the grille goes on, because afterwards a brush will not reach inside. Dry pigment rubbed into the depth will deepen it further optically.
This is an accessory for a kit, not a complete model. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted; the kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
