Matched Play Pre-Painted Foldable U-shaped Ruin - Sci-fi — a folded MDF ruin

A terrain piece from the Spanish brand Green Stuff World. It is not a model and not a figure, but an obstacle for the playing surface: a U-shaped ruin in MDF in a sci-fi styling. It is supplied pre-painted in neutral shades with weathering, so it is playable as soon as it has been simply assembled. The package holds one piece. The manufacturer aims it at the Matched Play tournament format and states that it is used in other games with figures 28 to 32 mm in size as well.

What the ruin does on the table

• the U shape closes the space on three sides, so it blocks line of sight and gives sure cover positions
• the same repeatable footprint makes building balanced surfaces easier
• optional break-out wall sections add battle damage when you open them
• the foldable construction goes up quickly and travels easily

Building tips

For the first assembly the manufacturer recommends white PVA glue: it holds on MDF and the joint stays flexible, which survives repeated folding. It does not recommend cyanoacrylate glue, because the joints work loose or get damaged after longer use. Open the break-out wall sections before you glue the assembly, because on a finished ruin they are hard to press out. Do not overspray the painted surface needlessly, the weathering is already applied.
