The package contains small steel balls in three diameters, two, three and four millimeters. They are used as a ready-made shape where a sphere would be hard to model by hand: the eyes of creatures, rivets, buttons, berries, fruit, growths on monsters or the ball ends of railings and levers. The metal surface is perfectly smooth and regular, so once painted a ball looks more precise than a shape kneaded by hand from putty.
Pick the balls up with tweezers or with a moistened tool tip, or they will spring away from you. They can be pressed into sculpting putty while it is still soft, and once it has cured they hold by themselves. On a smooth surface, glue them with super glue. Apply a primer before painting, because paint holds poorly on bare metal. If you want a glossy eye, leave the last coat in a gloss varnish.
For modelers and figure sculptors who make their details themselves, and for diorama builders looking for a regular spherical shape. Note: these balls are not mixing balls for paint bottles; the manufacturer expressly advises against that.
Small metal balls do not belong in the hands of small children or near pets, as they could be swallowed. Work over a mat, so that any that roll away can be picked up.
