DSPIAE MSP-ES10 abrasive papers for round heads, 1000 grit

Five self-adhesive abrasive papers cut to the shape of the round sanding head of the electric reciprocating sander. The 1000 grit is a fine grade that no longer changes the shape, it only removes the marks left by the 800 grit and prepares the surface for the last step. On curved surfaces that matters more than on a flat face, because a curve reflects light and thereby emphasizes every remaining scratch.

When to reach for them

After the 800 grit. If the model is getting a matte finish, the 1000 grit may be the last grade used as well. With gloss coats and metallic paints, by contrast, it is only an intermediate step and without the finishing grit the surface stays slightly hazy.

How to work with them

• Clean the head before sticking the paper on; it will not hold on dust.
• Work without pressure; the reciprocating movement does the job on its own.
• Clean the part between grits, as a grain from the coarser step will make a scratch.
• Replace a clogged paper; a blocked abrasive burnishes the surface instead of cutting it.
• Check the result under a raking side light.

Who they are for

The refill is for owners of the electric reciprocating sander with round heads. Fine grits are used up more slowly than coarse ones, yet it pays to have them to hand, because the whole face of a part gets gone over with them. The sander and the heads are not included in the package.

Do not breathe in the sanding dust from plastic and resin; work with extraction or at least with a respirator.
