A pen for removing the surplus from around panel lines, from DSPIAE. An absorbent tip dipped in thinner takes the place of a cotton swab.
Responsibility details are not available.
Once the engraving has been run in, dried fluid is left around the line and has to be wiped off. A cotton swab is not ideal for that: it falls apart, leaves hairs in the engraving and wipes unevenly. This pen holds an absorbent tip that draws the thinner in and keeps it, and its beveled point reaches into corners and down to the base of raised details, where a round swab cannot go.
Dip the tip in the appropriate thinner and squeeze the surplus out against the rim of the bottle; an oversaturated tip smears more than it wipes. Draw along the line rather than across it, so that the fluid is not pulled out of the engraving. Proceed in short strokes and keep turning the tip to a clean side. Flush it after work and let it dry in the open.
Choose the thinner according to the paint underneath the coat, because a strong solvent wipes that off too; try it on a hidden spot first. The tips are a consumable and come separately in two diameters. Thinner and the fluid for lines are not included in the package.
The pen goes well together with the line-running tool from the same brand. One leads the fluid into the engraving, the other wipes off what has run around it; together they make a procedure that does not call for waiting until everything has dried and has to be put right.
