The Aviaeology AOD72C02 decal sheet carries the code letters of RAF and Fleet Air Arm machines 36 inches high in the Dark Grey shade. It is a set of characters for assembling the code, not the markings of one particular aircraft.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is a sheet of code letters. National insignia and technical stencils are not on it, so anyone looking for roundels or maintenance data needs a different sheet in the same series. Aviaeology, the Canadian SkyGrid Studio, supplies letters and numerals here 36 inches high in the dark Dark Grey shade. The manufacturer's part number is AOD72C02. The scale of the sheet is not stated here; check it on the box.
British aircraft carried a pair of squadron code letters and a single letter for the machine on the sides of the fuselage. The height and the shade of the characters differed with the kind of aircraft and with the period. The sheet is therefore not tied to a single type and suits RAF and Fleet Air Arm machines alike, provided this size and shade belong to them. Compare the finish with a photograph of the aircraft you are building.
The characters are applied one at a time, so measure out the position of the code first with tape or a thin pencil. Gloss varnish belongs under the decal so that the carrier film is not visible, and once dry the whole is given a matte coat as needed. Press the excess water out with absorbent paper and take care over the same height and the same spacing of the letters, because irregularity shows at once on the finished model.
This is an accessory for a model, not a kit. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
