A set of scratch brush pens for cleaning and surface work. According to the manufacturer it covers five kinds of fiber: brass, glass fiber, soft nylon, hard nylon and stainless steel. The fibers are retractable, so by turning the cap you set their length to suit how much bite you need. The overall length of a pen is, according to the manufacturer, 12 centimeters.
Each fiber has a different hardness and therefore a different use. Stainless steel and brass serve for removing rust, scale and paint residue from metal parts. Glass fiber is the gentlest choice for polishing metal and for preparing a surface before soldering. The nylon fibers will handle cleaning shaping rollers and tools of modeling putty residue. In weathering, the pens are used with chipping techniques.
Extend only as long a bundle of fibers as you really need; a longer bundle splays out and loses precision. On plastic and resin work carefully, because metal fibers easily scratch a soft surface. Work with glass fiber wearing gloves and sweep any broken fibers away rather than blowing them off. Once worn, shorten the tip to expose fresh fibers.
When working with glass fibers wear gloves and do not breathe the dust in.
