Supermarine Walrus is a monograph on the British amphibian biplane. It came out in the British Warpaint 39 series, which devotes each volume to a single aircraft type and sums up its development, service and appearance in a single booklet in A4 format. The volume was written by Alan W. Hall and Ray Sturtivant. The publication is in English. It is not a kit and not an accessory for building a model.
The Walrus was an amphibian biplane with a pusher propeller and a Bristol Pegasus radial engine. The Royal Navy catapulted it from cruisers and battleships for reconnaissance and for spotting artillery fire. Because it could land on water, it also became a highly valued rescue machine that picked downed airmen out of the sea. The hull could handle landings on water and on land alike thanks to the retractable landing gear.
The volume will be appreciated by builders of seaplanes and biplanes and by collectors of literature on the Royal Navy. The combination of photographs, drawings and color schemes serves as a basis for building and painting a model.
