A dust collector is a device that draws air in right at the place being sanded and catches the dust before it flies off around the room. In modeling work that solves two problems at once: a health one, because fine dust from plastic and especially from resin does not belong in the lungs, and a practical one, because particles settled on a surface stand out under the paint as grain.
The tool has a brushless motor, which is quieter and more durable than a conventional one with brushes, and a HEPA filter element behind a magnetically attached cover, so that it is changed without tools. The suction is controlled steplessly rather than in stages, and the lighting of the working area has an adjustable color temperature. It is powered through an external adapter.
The collector will be appreciated by anyone who sands regularly, works with resin or builds at home in a living room. Replacement filter elements are sold separately and it is good to keep one in reserve.
The collector does not replace ventilating the room when working with paints and solvents.
