The F4U Corsair is an American carrier-borne fighter aircraft of the Second World War. You will recognize it by the inverted gull wing: the designers bent it so that a propeller of a large diameter would fit under the fuselage and the landing gear legs could stay short. The long nose ahead of the cockpit worsened the pilot's view forward, and it is precisely that which the F4U-1A version deals with, on which the seat was set higher and the cockpit canopy modified. For a model that means a different silhouette of the transparencies from the one the earliest rendition has.
These are self-adhesive masks in 1:48 scale. The name ties them to the Magic Factory kit, so they are cut to the measure of the shapes of this kit; on the kits of other makers count on deviations. The rendition is one-sided according to the name. Masks generally serve to cover the areas that are to stay free of paint, typically the cockpit transparencies and the tires. The maker's instructions state the extent of the set and the placement of the individual pieces.
Stick the masks on before spraying, onto a clean and degreased surface. Press each piece down around its perimeter with a blunt point, so that the paint does not run under the edge. Spray in several thin coats; a heavy coat creates a ridge at the edge of the mask, which stays visible even after it is taken off. Take the mask off as soon as the paint has flashed off, with tweezers at a sharp angle and toward you.
For modelers who want the frames of the transparencies sharp and do not want to mask them laboriously with tape. A kit and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
