This set is not a kit but a photo-etched detail accessory. It contains fine photo-etched metal parts that replace or supplement the plastic parts of the model and add detail that injection-molded plastic cannot reach. The set is intended for Spitfire Mk.IXe models in 1:48 scale.
The Supermarine Spitfire was the most famous British fighter of the Second World War. The Mk.IX version came about as an answer to the German Fw 190 and was fitted with the more powerful Rolls-Royce Merlin 60 engine. The letter e refers to the armament variant combining .50 caliber machine guns with cannon. The Mk.IX is among the most popular subjects with modelers.
Photo-etched parts are separated with a sharp blade on a hard surface, bent in a photo-etch bender and glued with cyanoacrylate. It pays to plan the photo-etch before assembling the relevant area of the model so that the parts seat correctly.
This is an accessory, not a stand-alone model. The basic kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
