A plastic kit of the X-Wing fighter in 1:63 scale from the MPC brand. It is a snap-fit model: the parts snap together, so the build needs neither glue nor paints. The packaging is usually done in the style of the classic period MPC boxes and it normally offers both stickers for younger builders and waterslide decals for more experienced ones.
The X-Wing is a single-seat Rebel fighter with its characteristic wings in an X, which open out in combat. In the film A New Hope it was flown by Luke Skywalker with the droid R2-D2 in the seat behind.
The model can be built straight out of the box, but painting it and accentuating the panel lines with a wash will give it a realistic look. For the opened-out wings, take care that the snap joints seat firmly.
The snap-fit kit is supplied unassembled. Glue and paints can be used for a firmer joint and a painted finish, but they are not included in the package.
