Painting tips

Wash and degrease the surface first and sand small irregularities down carefully. If you paint the statue, working from a dark base to light highlights works well: the dark tone runs into the folds of the garment and a dry brush in a shade of stone, bronze or gold then draws out the edges. Apply the coats thinly so that the relief does not get lost. A matte clear coat will tie the dried surface together, while a retained gloss will recall polished metal instead.
