The resin kit Farman 231 Bis Hydravion 1:72 from SBS Model – a French floatplane for experienced modelers.
Responsibility details are not available.
A short-run all-resin kit of the French Farman 231 Bis floatplane in its Hydravion float version in 1:72 scale from SBS Model. This is a kit for experienced modelers: it holds resin parts, photo-etched parts, clear parts and a decal sheet. For the exact contents, follow the enclosed instructions.
The Farman 231 was a French two-seat light aircraft of the interwar period, used for training and sport flying. In the Hydravion version it was fitted with a pair of floats instead of wheels, so it could take off from and land on water. The float conversion made it a machine for operation from lakes and rivers and places it among the interesting seaplanes of its day.
First wash the resin parts to remove mold release residue, cut off the casting blocks and sand the surfaces with respiratory protection. They are bonded with super glue (cyanoacrylate), and so are the photo-etched parts. It helps to lay out the struts and the rigging before gluing; set the floats exactly symmetrically so that the model stands level. Apply the base over a primer, which will reveal any bubbles or gaps.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted, as a resin kit. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
