A resin set of German helmets with camouflage foliage in 1:35 scale from the Polish maker Mantis Miniatures. It is neither a figure nor a kit but a detail accessory for figures of soldiers of the Second World War, or an element for a diorama in its own right. The helmets are covered with cast leaves and twigs imitating period field camouflage.
Natural camouflage of helmets with netting and foliage was common practice in the German army as a way of reducing the recognizability of a soldier in the field. Cast camouflage saves the laborious adding of tiny pieces and gives a scene a realistic look.
Wash the parts free of the mold release agent, cut the casting blocks off and bond them with cyanoacrylate. Paint the foliage in shades of green, bring it out with a drybrush and add a fine wash for depth.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Figures, glue, paints and further accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
