A conversion set from the maker AML in 1:144 scale for the amphibious PBY-5A Catalina version. It contains parts for the magnetic anomaly detector (MAD) and the launch rails of anti-submarine rockets (retrorockets), usually together with decals. It is not an aircraft kit but an accessory to a plastic model of the matching scale, which is not included in the package.
The PBY-5A was the amphibious version of the Catalina with retractable landing gear, able to operate from water and from land alike. As a long-range patrol and anti-submarine machine it carried the MAD system for pinning down submerged submarines and rocket armament on the wings for attacking surface and submerged targets.
Wash the resin or printed parts free of mold release agent, separate the casting blocks and glue them with super glue. Measure out and clean up the mating surfaces before seating the new parts. Apply the decals over a gloss base and fix them with a clear coat. Follow the manufacturer's schemes.
This is an accessory to a model; the aircraft kit itself, paints and glue are not included in the package.
