The Polish manufacturer Lukgraph specializes in resin kits developed and printed with modern 3D technology. This edition of the legendary Grumman Goose amphibian in 1:32 scale is aimed at aircraft in French and British service. It is not injection-molded plastic: the parts are resin, with a very fine surface and sharp detail, but they call for a different approach to preparation and to bonding. It is a kit for experienced modelers who have already worked with resin.
The Grumman G-21 Goose is an American twin-engine amphibious high-wing monoplane - a flying boat with a hull and retractable landing gear that took off from water and from a hard runway alike. It was created in the second half of the 1930s originally as a civil machine and quickly became a universal workhorse: carrying passengers, liaison and courier flights, coastal patrol and training. During the Second World War and after it, European armies and navies used it alongside the American services - among others the French and British units whose aircraft are the theme of this edition. Its robust structure and its ability to land practically anywhere gave the Goose a long service life even in remote areas.
First wash the resin parts in lukewarm soapy water to remove any mold release or print resin residue - otherwise the paint will not hold. Cut the casting blocks and print supports off with a saw or a sharp knife; never break them off. They are bonded with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue), or with epoxy on loaded joints; ordinary cement for plastic does not work. Sand wet and with respiratory protection, and apply primer before painting. On the large hull, test the joints dry and watch for a smooth transition along the bottom of the hull. Finish and paint the interior, the engines and the landing gear before you close the hull up.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted, as a resin kit. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
