Aoshima 1:700 IJN destroyer Yukikaze is an injection-molded plastic kit of a Japanese Kagero-class destroyer from the Waterline modeling line.
Responsibility details are not available.
This injection-molded plastic kit captures the Japanese destroyer Yukikaze in 1:700 scale, from Aoshima's Waterline modeling line. The set holds the hull and superstructure parts and finely detailed armament elements such as gun turrets, anti-aircraft weapons and boats.
Yukikaze was a Kagero-class destroyer brought into service with the Imperial Japanese Navy in 1940. She earned a reputation as a lucky ship, because she survived most of the great battles in the Pacific even though the units she escorted often took heavy losses. After the war she was handed over and served for a number of years more. Her late form was reinforced with further anti-aircraft armament.
Depending on the version, the hull is built either as a waterline model without the lower part or with the full hull on a stand. Finish the deck and the superstructure first and fit the small weapons and the masts only at the end. The appearance improves considerably if photo-etched railings and rigging are added, which are not included in the package. Paint the hull dark gray, the wooden decks in a linoleum shade, and bring out the details with a wash and dry-brushing.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
