A resin detail set of wheel bays for a model of the Lockheed F-104 Starfighter fighter in 1:32 scale from the Czech maker Aires. It is not an aircraft model but a replacement part, which takes the place of the simplified bays from a plastic kit with a faithfully cast and complex interior with piping, stiffeners and texture.
The F-104 Starfighter was a supersonic fighter and fighter-bomber with a characteristically slender fuselage and short thin wings. The landing gear bays reveal a great many technical details, which markedly raise the realism of a model once they are set into the open spaces.
Wash the mold release residue off the parts, cut off the casting blocks and glue them with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue); protect your breathing while sanding resin. Paint the bays before closing the airframe up, shade them with a wash into the recesses and bring out the edges and the cabling. Reckon with a fit to one particular kit and possibly with small adjustments.
