Exhaust stubs for the Focke-Wulf Fw 190 D-9 in 1:48 scale. Quickboost, made for the MiniArt kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
Quickboost replaces the exhausts of the long-nose Dora. The set is made for the MiniArt kit, and that is the detail by which you recognize which of the similar versions you need. The aircraft model is bought separately.
The Fw 190 D-9 came about by reworking the radial-engined Fw 190 A for a liquid-cooled Junkers Jumo 213 powerplant. The lengthened nose with an annular radiator and the longer rear fuselage gave the machine an unmistakable silhouette and noticeably better performance at higher altitudes. It entered service in the autumn of 1944, mainly with JG 26 and JG 54, and was also used to protect Me 262 jets as they took off. Pilots called it the Dora. Series production ran in several plants at once and the machines differed from one another in small details of the covers and the armament.
The stubs project in a row along the sides of the nose and are clearly visible on the model, because the cover above them is short. Leave them matte and dark with a rusty tinge, and only then add the light soot streaks trailing back across the camouflage – on the Dora they catch the eye above all on machines with a mottled finish. Soot is best built up with heavily thinned paint applied in several light passes, not in one saturated coat.
Glue and paints are not enclosed.
