Ten transport containers of twenty liters, Portuguese pattern, 1:35 scale. A small thing that brings a fender, a cargo bed or the corner of a scene to life at once.
Responsibility details are not available.
The twenty-liter transport can is one of the most widespread pieces of field equipment of all. Every army, however, adapted its shape in its own way: a differently worked handle, different pressed ribs, a differently placed cap. The Portuguese pattern differs from the commonly seen types in exactly these details, and that is why it can be told apart even among a pile of similar containers.
Fuel and water were never carried one can at a time. Ten containers in one set are therefore enough to give a vehicle a full bundle on the fender, another row on the cargo bed and leave the rest in stock for the next model. It is precisely the repetition of one object in greater numbers that makes a scene believable.
Weight and position. A full container rests on the ground differently from an empty one. When you stand several of them side by side, leave them slightly irregular: a perfect row looks like a shop window, not like a loaded vehicle.
Fastenings. The containers were held in place by a strap or a frame. Without one the accessory looks as though it were merely lying on the vehicle. A strap can be suggested with a strip of foil or thin paper.
Wear. Worn paint on the edges, a decal with the contents and lighter dust in the recesses will do more than the best base shade. On figures carrying a container, watch that the handle sits in the palm: that is where a mistake shows up fastest.
