The Buffalo is an American wheeled vehicle with mine protection which serves for finding and removing improvised devices. The crew works from a protected interior and uses a long articulated arm with a grapple for the work outside. The cab therefore has a row of thick glazed areas: without them the crew could see neither the arm nor the road. On a model that means many flat windows and a lot of meters of frames to mask.
Cutting straight strips for that many windows is tedious and one crooked edge spoils the whole side of the vehicle. The masks are shaped in advance, they hold while spraying and they make the edge straight at the first attempt.
