This separate detail accessory replaces the main engine exhaust nozzle on a model of the fifth-generation F-35B fighter in the STOVL configuration. The parts are made by direct 3D printing, which captures the complex geometry of the petals and the internal structure of the nozzle faithfully – detail that ordinary injection-molded plastic does not offer. It is not a model of an aircraft but an accessory.

Use

• Separate the parts from the print supports and clean them up.
• Assemble them and fit them in place of the plastic nozzle.
• Paint them in metallic shades and bring out the heat discoloration.
• Handle them carefully – fine 3D-printed parts are fragile.
