This is an extensive additional photo-etched set, not a model in its own right. The package holds a set of photo-etched parts meant to refine the model of the Japanese heavy cruiser Myoko in 1:700 scale. The set covers the ship from bow to stern and replaces or completes a range of plastic features of the superstructures and the deck.
Myoko was the lead ship of the class of the same name of Japanese heavy cruisers of the Second World War period. The vessels carried a main battery of 20.3 cm caliber and were among the heavily armed fast cruisers of the Imperial Japanese Navy; they took part in a number of battles in the Pacific.
The photo-etched parts typically take in railings, lattice masts, cranes, platforms, ladders, radar features and fine deck features. The parts are separated with a scalpel, bent with a photo-etch bending tool and glued with cyanoacrylate glue. Given the extent of the set, it is worth working section by section and painting only once assembled.
