What the tool can do

The chisel from the Mr.Pro 0-Series Premium Chisel range has an edge 0.3 mm wide and takes material away in a narrow band. It will replace lines that disappeared while sanding seams, deepen a shallow groove or suggest the division of covers and hatches. The 0.3 mm width leaves a distinct trace that stays legible even once paint has been sprayed on; for the very fine paneling of small models, narrower edges tend to be more suitable. There is one piece in the package.

Working with the chisel

It is drawn toward you, not cut forwards. It pays to lay a ruler alongside or stick guide tape down and make several light strokes in a row; the depth then grows evenly and the groove does not wander to one side. Pressure does not help, as the sharp edge does the work. Finally level the plastic left along the edges of the groove with a sanding sponge or a polisher, or it will show under the paint as a ragged edge. On a longer line it is worth starting with a faint outline along the whole length and only then deepening the groove.

Maintenance

A thin edge stands lateral loads badly, so do not lever with it and do not use it as a scraper on metal. Clean it after work and store it so that the point rests against nothing. A tool that stays sharp is easier to guide and slips off the line less often.
