Studio27 1:24, Pescarolo Gulf No. 35, the LMP2 class, Le Mans 2011: a decal sheet with the iconic Gulf livery for a car of the LMP2 customer prototype class. This is not a kit: the decals are for the model of the Pescarolo from Simil-R, which has to be on hand separately.
Responsibility details are not available.
A Studio27 decal sheet in 1:24 scale with the Gulf livery for the Pescarolo prototype with race number 35, entered in the LMP2 class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans 2011. As a reminder, this is NOT a kit: the package contains decals only, no parts of a model. You have to own the model of the car itself: the sheet is intended for the kit of the Pescarolo prototype in 1:24 scale from the French maker Simil-R. If you want the pair of cars No. 15 and No. 24, reach for the sister sheet, which covers them both.
The prototypes at Le Mans are divided into two levels and the difference is fundamental. LMP1 was the top class, the faster works prototypes with freer technical development, which fought for overall victory. LMP2, where car No. 35 belonged, is on the contrary the lower-cost customer class for private teams: strictly controlled costs, limited development, weaker engines and therefore slower lap times. LMP2 cars fight for victory in their class, not for overall triumph. The brand carries the name of Henri Pescarolo, a French legend and a four-time overall winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans as a driver (1972, 1973, 1974 and 1984), who founded his own team after his career and built his own prototypes: a privateer against the works teams. The 24 Hours of Le Mans is the most famous endurance race in the world. The light blue and orange Gulf livery is among the most famous racing color schemes of all, made famous by the Ford GT40, the winner of Le Mans in 1968 and 1969, and by the Porsche 917 from the film Le Mans with Steve McQueen (which, however, never won Le Mans overall).
Gulf is a full-body livery and the sheet will not cover the whole body: the light blue base has to be sprayed and the paint chosen so that it goes with the printing of the decals. Next comes gloss clear coat: on a matte surface air is held under the film and the decal silvers, which is the most common mistake when applying markings. The rounded wheel covers and the curved tail of the prototype call for decal softener, otherwise the film will ripple. Close the finished livery with clear coat and polish it.
The package contains decals only. The kit, paints, clear coats, glue and softener are not included in the package.
